My Friend's Lovely Luncheon

The table setting was charming and perfect for a September day. Isn't it great when dear friends also love design and pretty tables!  Notice how Anne used 5 mugs for the centerpiece, 3 filled with flowers and 2 left empty. Random Bits of Fall

Thank you for all your sweet comments about my recent makeovers. Two down, about a hundred to go. Projects just seem to multiply around our house. Now, on to fall . . . what a glorious time of year. Along with millions of other people, it's my favorite season for lots of reasons - the crisp, boot/jean-wearing weather, the beautiful changing of the leaves and, of course, football. Since it is now officially fall, here is a random smattering of fall-ness (just made that word up).<br /><br />First, I got my fall pedicure yesterday when my daughter and I enjoyed a little mother-daughter time. Usually, I go really dark (deep purple, almost black), but this time I opted for <a href="http://www.drugstore.com/opi-nail-lacquer-you-dont-know-jacques/qxp210428">OPI's "You Don't Know Jacques</a>," a taupe-y gray. Makeover

While out running errands the other day, I popped into Homegoods since I had not been in quite some time. During a drive-by of the home section, a little table caught my eye. I'd much rather have it  on a pillow). But, at $20 the price was right, and I had some ideas of how I could transform it. So, home it went. I've been digging black and gold together lately. Pretty good for a $20 table. I already had the supplies, so just my labor was involved. Gold leafing is not an easy process but I alternately love it and hate it. Being covered in gold flakes is not fun, and the process is messy and time-consuming. But, there's something satisfying about rubbing the gold onto the surface and seeing the furniture transform. Light-Hearted

On this gloomy, rainy Monday here in Nashville, I thought I would talk about lighting. Specifically, the very cool lighting featured in our new <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/c/nashville-green-hills?cm_ven=google&cm_cat=store_openings&cm_pla=fls_nashville&cm_ite=nordstrom_b">Nordstrom</a> store here in Music City. Yes, we finally got a Nordstrom. We are so happy. I can't afford much in there, but did manage to get some Tom's shoes for my daughter. But, back to the lighting . . . I mainly loved the way the store set the mood in different departments with varied options. So much pretty eye candy. This room by Windsor was my favorite, followed in a close second by Peter Dunham's guest room/study (that will require a different post). I thought it showed her versatility and didn't immediately scream "Windsor Smith."
