Porchlight Interiors recently featured the work of South African designer John Jacob Zwiegelaar of John Jacob Interiors. I then spent the next hour+ immersed in the firm's portfolio. The designer is only in his early 30's and the work is impressive. This room is my absolute favorite. The back wall is covered in a brown grass cloth. Notice the two lamps on both sides of the fireplace; that's something I haven't seen before. Love the mutiple rugs scattered over the hardwood floors. (all images from John Jacob Interiors)

Bright white with green accents makes for a crisp, clean aesthetic. This lantern looks to be an exact match of the one in the living room. Click here to read more about this project in the Nov. 08 issue of House & Garden South Africa.

This is the designer's own home in Bantry Bay. In an article he says that the key to black and white schemes is provenance, otherwise "black and white can seem viscously plastic." The round mirror in the fireplace and the mirror panels flanking the fireplace are my favorite features in this room. Well, love the rug and the greek key trim too.

Such a civilized kitchen!
